Rekha Pai

 

Rekha Pai has studied and performed Bharatnaytam and Kuchipudi for over twenty-five years. She began her training in Bharatnatyam under Guru Smt. Thankamani Kutty in Kolkata, and went on to do her Arangetram, under her tutelage. She studied and performed Kuchipudi with Smt. Jyoti Lakkaraju at Natyalaya in the Bay Area.

 

She became interested in Bollywood Dance through her love for the music. In Mona Khan, she found her “Bollywood Guru” and under her guidance began teaching with Naach in 2003. Since then she has explored various dance styles like Jazz and Hip Hop, choreographed, taught and also been on several judging panels, including Youthsava and Naatya-Raaga. She has been a part of the Mona Khan Company Principal Emerging Performers since 2009.

 

Rekha thrives on the thrill and challenge of constantly learning something new, and enjoys pushing herself to new limits. Dance has always been a passion and a release. Through the years, it has become her way of life, the foundation of various relationships, and a way of giving back to the community. Rekha loves teaching kids how to work hard and have fun at the same time, embrace challenges, develop confidence, and develop life-skills like discipline, perseverance and commitment.

 

Though she cannot stay away from the studio for too long, outside of her dance life, Rekha works at Juniper Networks. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading and sharing stuff on Facebook!
